We were recommended to this Restaurant by another local eatery. I wish he hadn't. We had booked for 8-45 but did not get taken to our table until 9-45. It then took them a further hour to serve two courses. My wife's scallops were ok, but nothing special. Her fish she reckoned was no better than she could have produced at home, and we dine out for something better. I had a quail dish which was tasteless, and would not pass the blind man test, followed by venison which they managed to make tough and practically inedible on the outside, and ok on the inside. Must have been a miracle. Add an overpriced bottle of admittedly good wine, and this was not a pleasant trip. We go out twice a week to eat in our own area, and are also away quite often when we look for something special. This was one of our worst experiences, although such disasters are fortunately few and far between.

The dining room is a sophisticated but friendly and welcoming restaurant in the centre of Rawtenstall, in the Rossendale Valley. We enjoyed delightful hors d'oevres in the upstairs bar and opted for the taster menu. Each course was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The flavours were delicate and wonderfully matched, the service was attentive and professional. Altogether a superb evening out - we've booked to visit again in 2 weeks time!
