Very disappointed with my meal at the Meridian.My monkfish tail main course arrived accompanied with three clams and some veg. All looked ok until I had some difficulty opening the clams.After opening the clams I tried to scrape off the thick black slime surrounding the edible flesh.On attempting to eat the flesh it was tough to cut and tasted foul,Bringing this to the attention of the waitress she returned my meal to the kitchen,then returned with the same dish with the explanation from your chef that "that's the way clams come." I then asked for it to be taken away and for the offending clams to be removed.On return the clams had been crudely scraped off leaving some clam slime residue still on the plate.By this time my meal was cold and my patience exhausted. Calling the manager he offered another meal which I declined. Both the manager and the waitress were very helpful but my evening out with my wife was spoiled.This was the first time I have been disappointed in many visits to your other establishments but this meal, and your chef's attitude, was appalling.

Initial impression was good.
Seating was reasonably comfortable.
Menu was quite imaginative.
It's a shame that the chef could not do justice to the written word.
The tomato soup (which we assumed, incorrectly, to be included in the day's specials) was more reminiscent of pink wallpaper paste than anything culinary.
The seared duck was undercooked (blood still running) with a thick layer of fat attached, stacked on a mound of quite decent salad (had it not been for the blood!)
The salmon wrapped in parma ham sounded great, but the ham had been dried out beyond recognition, and all the flavour cooked out of a potentally interesting dish.
I shall not be returning.
