Came down from Aberdeen to stay in Dundee for the weekend and went for a run on Friday night and came to the Dairsie Inn. The food was very good if not a bit pricy but the fish was so fresh it almost came up and kissed you. The Chef/Owner and waitress was very friendly and the food was all homemade and tasted delicious. Would go back there again.

Two work colleagues and I visited the Dairsie Inn for the first time for lunch today. I ordered a ham salad from the very limited menu and was very disappointed when it arrived to find that it consisted of two slices of ham, a little bit of lettuce, two slices of tomato and cucumber! It was very scant to say the least. However I chose not to complain. When we received the bill I realised that this scant, disappointing meal cost £6.95! I was disgusted and complained to the male who had served us. He apologised but did not offer any solution to the problem so we left and needless to say will not be back.

On a recent visit to a local restaurant to meet with friends I was pleased with the atmosphere, the quality of the food and the service. I was initially pleased with the warm and pleasant surroundings. There was ample parking and the facilities were clean. There was music playing quiet enough to allow us to chat comfortably. There was generous spacing between tables allowing us privacy in our conversation and we didn’t feel too cramped. We were approached immediately on entering and shown to our table. The waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. The menu had plenty of choice without being overwhelming and we were also taken through the specials of the day. The timing of the arrival of each course was appropriate. The food itself was well presented, cooked properly and each course was delicious. Some examples on the menu were: Pancakes filled with mushrooms and a creamy garlic sauce Venison with a red wine sauce Duck with orange sauce All served with potatoes and fresh vegetables There were 6 of us; all had something different and all commented on how good their meal was. An additional surprise was that whilst waiting for the starters we were given a small soup, compliments of the chef. One of the desserts ordered turned out to be unavailable. The Chef, herself, came to our table to apologise and suggest alternatives, making us feel valued customers. The only slight downside to the service was having to seek attention to get the bill at the end of the evening. This was my first visit to this restaurant but it certainly won’t be my last.
