During a recent trip to the Cotswolds, I stayed briefly in Chipping Campden. Having seen much of the UK, I have never visited a more beautiful town than Chipping Campden, with its ancient market square, magnificent church and stunning countryside. Campden's history is based around the sheep wool industry and indeed there is still plenty of sheep farming going on in the area. I was very fortunate to stumble upon a local sheep farmer who has lived and worked in the area all his life and who runs a small business called Chipping Campden Cars (www.chippingcampdencars.com) through which he gives guided tours over the North Cotswolds and beyond to Stratford upon Avon, Oxford etc. The tour was so exceptionally interesting and we saw so many hidden "off the beaten track" gems, that it compelled me to write and urge anyone else staying in this area to go on one of these tours, as you will not be disappointed.

Good Points: traditional
Bad Points: room was very warm and with windows open noisy main road but due to extreme weather perhaps this is not a regular occurance
