Disgusted at manner in which I was spoken to by male staff member as stated we were obscenely ignorant as had not requested permission for picnic. My little 3 year old boy only consumed a packet of crisps whilst walking through the overgrown grounds surrounding the stagnant pond which was governed by mad geese. Rather ignorantly reminded this is private property and cost of upkeep via government grants to fund building repair work. Advised was fully prepared to pay the exhorbitant £6 each entry when we at first entered grounds but after seeing lack of facilities and arrogance/ignorance of staff refused to pay. Will NEVER be back - worst day out in while, never been made to feel so unwelcome. No wonder no-one visits, with general disrepair of buildings, toilet, shambles of a playpark about time the elderly man with the silver spoon ... learned some etiquette, I may not have been born a millionaire but at least I know my manners and make any guest to my home welcome. If my multi-million £ estate was so badly need of a cash injection, I'd kiss a++ to get money/visitors.

Castle grounds aqnd local village are fairly attractive but this did not make up for a very poor cottage
