I was wary of the London Eye as a tourist trap (and the prices they try to charge for jelly-beans as you file past in the queue are ridiculous), but found the experience thoroughly enjoyable. Booking tickets reduced queuing from twice to once, and we only waited maybe 10 minutes on a busy Friday half-term evening. The views are fantastic, we could clearly see MPs sweating over expenses claims across the river, and my wife who hates heights felt relaxed in the solidly engineered pod. There is something very graceful too about the snail’s pace rotation of the wheel. Only real gripe the idiot tourist from Germany circa 1973 judging by his hair and clothes who ignored the mobile ban until mass British disapproval death-rays stopped him.
