My husband and I stayed here on the night of our wedding reception as a treat. We also paid for my brother in-law and his partner to stay. We arrived back from the party at about 2am to find that our part of the hotel had no electricity! Myself and my husband had not been to the hotel before hand so had absolutely no idea what the layout of the room was like! I went down to reception but found no one to be around and no notice of what to do in an emergancy. As a taxi had dropped us off and I didn't fancy my chances of getting another one we had to just get on with it! This ment us having to unpin my hair which was extravagantly done by the light of my mobile phone! Worst of all the hotel have made absolutely no apology let alone given any kind of compensation. We had pre paid for the rooms (both of which had no lights) and they have no intention of giving us a refund. They say that the TV's were working as they are on a different cicuit and that they should have provided us with ample light. They also say we should have called the off site night porter by dialling 0 from our room telephone! We couldn't even see there was a telephone!

I live, and run a business, locally to this hotel, and had started to frequent it regularly for Sunday lunch and evening bar or restautrant food. Also, as a nice property to entertain clients. Until on Saturday night, taking guests there, I was extremely upset to be turned away from the bar as according to the bar staff they were so understaffed that they could not serve us. Their attitude was most unhelpful. One member of the bar staff and a waitress from the restaurant made the point to whoever was in charge (there was said not even to be any manager on duty) that I did frequent the establishment, but the attitude was that it did not matter as they were too understaffed, which suggests to me a morale problem. To make matters worse, once my friends had left, the waitress pointed out that there were only 2 customers in the restaurant and that we could have eaten there, but this option was not offered by the somewhat offhand person in charge. I would strongly recommend against this establishment to anyone thinking of eating or staying there.
