Called into the Potting Shed recently after a tip off from a friend who recommended it following a recent change in ownership of the place. I was very impressed! The weather was cold, but the welcome was warm - and the food was heavenly! I visited around midday on Sunday; some were having brunch (which looked yummy - shame I had already had breakfast!), some were making a start on lunch and others had simply called in mid-'ramble' (or even mid-horseride!) for a coffee and pastry by the warmth of the roaring fire. I was there for lunch: Fish and chunky home made chips for me, roast duck sandwich for another, home made burger for another (the size of it!!), and beautifully made fish cakes for the last of us. The portions were hearty and the presentation was amazing, and this was furthermore extended to the desserts (where you'll struggle to choose just one!).
I also took the opportunity to check out the Potting Shed's set menu for the evenings running up to Christmas and made a booking there and then for the extended family (amazingly priced by the way!). I cannot wait to return in December.

Great food, we had a champagne tea for two as it was my wife's birthday, which came on a wonderful old fashioned sandwich layered stand, 3 stories tall. Really like the vibe of the place, very relaxed, you could look out the window and see the ducks and geese on the stream. There were a lot of people having a picnic too, some walking group so if you wanted to visit on a budget you could. - Will certainly be going back as beautiful village, Silkstone which very old church and nice high street.
