Good Points: The food we ate from the bar was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was very good Bad Points: The room was rather 'tired'. It was on the cold side. The heating could have been put on a little earlier perhaps. Perhaps secondary glazing would help. The shower head needed cleaning or replacing to get a better water flow and the door needed repairing. General review: A pleasant visit.

Stayed for New Year's Eve. The room wasn't ready when we arrived but the friendly staff quickly attended to it while we had a complimentary drink in the bar. The decoration in the room was a little tired, but the ensuite shower had plenty of hot water and the bed was comfortable. The bar and restaurant have been nicely refurbished. The new year's eve gala dinner was superb, washed down with a well keep real ale (or two!) and a bottle of red wine. A late brunch on New Year's Day was also very good, in evening we ate from the restaurant menu which was delicious and excellent value for money.

Downstairs areas smelt very dusty and the carpets were dirty and well worn. The room was adequate but needed refurbishing. The road outside is very noisy with work traffic Monday to Friday. Breakfast was good but I think that some items like sausages, fried bread and mushrooms are cooked at the beginning of service and kept hot so they can be very greasy. If you booked this for a special occassion you would be very disappointed. Very overpriced for a pub (that badly needs a facelift) with rooms.
