My sister and brother in law held their wedding here on the 8th November 2008. On my arrival it all seemed pleasant but a shock was in store for myself, my husband and our young family! The room we had booked was a family room this is no's 7 & 8 they have an ajoining door! Now for £125 a night; I expect a reasonable standard of room. To start off with the "parents" part was ok we thought until we noticed that there had obviously been a leak at some point through the ceiling as there was water marks still visible under a coat of paint! The bed as menial as it sounds had a broken knob on it that fell off when my husband hung it jacket on the end. The tall standing wardrobes in both rooms were rickety and not fixed securely. Heavily stained carpets. The ajoining "childrens" room had budget furniture that was falling apart and was also mismatched. Light fittings on the walls that could not be used and again heavily stained carpets! Our third bed was a ground level blow up mattress with a sleeping bag! The en-suite has filthy grouting in the shower cubicle and when my husband used the shower the shower head grip fell apart and the fittings on the shower thermastat fell off also. The difference in standards between the rooms is unbelieveable. This was one of the worst I believe. I do not expect the hilton but I do expect something better than a hostel and this was probably lower than a hostel's standard. The food was £50 a head for the wedding meal and the food wasn't that fantastic either. I pity my sister and her husband having to pay for this! The attitude of some staff was undesirable! On the sit down part of the meal in between courses my daughter of 4 was playing and the Matre De stood on her hand and did or said nothing and left her sobbing! It took a young waitress to ask if she was okay! When the disco had finished we ascended on the bar to encounter a very rude gentleman who could do nothing but huff and puff and be totally unaccomadating! The morning breakfast post wedding was sub standard too in many ways! My older daughter ordered some croissants for her breakfast and it took four times to remind the staff we were still waiting for them 30 minutes later. When I decided to complain on booking out, the arrogance of the duty manager was unbelievable. I complained about the broken items in the room and the sub standard of it and said I could have gone to a Premier Inn or the likes and she said "Why didn't you then?". She offered me my second night half price and only took off £50.00 when it should have been £62.50! She also implied indirectly that it was maybe my family that had caused the damages as no-one else had complained before! I have since learnt that these premises are only have a 2 Star rating and it is very obviously why now!!! Avoid at all costs if possible! I would NOT reccommend this place for animals let alone humans!!!!

Well situated. Standard rooms well decorated and clean. Good food. BUT don't leave anything behind. I did, reception told me it had been handed in and would be posted, nothing arrived and no further information was sent to me when I enquired if a certificate of postage was available for me to query with the post office.
