We needed an affordable cottage near Dunster for a week. It was part work part holiday and the George Inn had just the thing.
Being self-employed costs are always felt directly. With two adults and two children the cost of B&B can eat into your profits quickly.
The George had a good deal on this two bedroom cottage and we took the risk. Well I am so glad we did. It was ideal. Sure the views from the cottage aren't great (into the car park / kitichen looking to fuel shed) but hey, we were out and about most of the time.
The cottage is recently refurbished to a good standard. Living room is fair, kitchen is good, lots of equipment and seats 4 easily, and the uptstairs bedrooms and bathroom are great. The owners are obviously doing a long-term overhaul of the whole place and well done to them.
The cottage is adjoining the pub and a great place it is too. Breakfasts are fantastic, lots of good local fare done brilliantly and the attention from the owners is spot-on. We only ate in the pub one evening, really only to save money since the cottage is self-catering, but it was excellent. We would have liked to do more.
The owners are very professional, focusing effort where it counts, quality of produce and service, and working to bring the fabric of the site up to the level of their service. I can see this becoming a little gem in Exmoor.
Full marks, we'll use them again!
