My brother and I came down to the Hood Arms on the 13th of April half way on our journey across the quantocks on our mountain bikes. We thought we would pop in and have a pint as we both enjoy our beer, and wat a result! the beer was awesome, after a few of their infamous Otter Head real ale we got peckish and decided to have lunch, which was jus as enjoyable! we ended up chatting to the owner and staff who were really friendly and welcoming. We had been to The Hood Arms before with the old landlord who was a grumpy so and so. The new landlords have only had the pub since June 2008. I have to say what a difference! Its like a brand new pub it had an excellent vibe, awesome beer, great food and most welcoming staff and owners. It was that good we decided to leave the place we were staying in Bridgwater and stay at The Hood Arms in one of their stunning rooms! we ended up staying an extra night as well. We had an absolutely wonderful time. I would also like to mention to any viewers about that other review, wat a load of codswollop. My brother and I were there eating when they decided to turn up. ! The party that have complained were a snobbish and rude group, its people like those that can ruin the pub trade and tarnish what is an excellent pub! I would recommend this to any body and even my parents are going to stay there for a weekend! I beg everybody to ignore that review and try the Pub for themselves. You will leave with a beaming smile on your face and glad you found The Hood Arms.

If you want the chef to come out of the kitchen to abuse you for arriving 15 minutes late after a 6 mile hike on the Coleridge Way, then this is the place for you. You will then be made to wait an hour for your food, be given the wrong orders and then someone else's bill. All in the presence of the manager, who went out of his way not to apologise for the service. And the restaurant was less than a quarter full, so no one was exactly rushed off their feet.
