Immediate impression, grumpy owner. Was not shown to our room, just told it was at the top of the house. The room was acceptable, although the bed left a bit to be desired. No sign of any flowers or chocolates. The breakfast was prepared and served by a very friendly, cheerful woman, in an openplan kitchen/diner. We were very surprised to find that our bed was not made or the cups and saucers washed at all during our stay. We only saw the owner when we were leaving and he obviously wanted paying, otherwise he was invisible. When we mentioned that our room had not been serviced he said that unfortunately it did not happen. We also found it impossible to park, either in Gilford Road or any of the adjoining roads, despite having been reassured that parking was easy. The icing on the cake was we got a parking ticket. The owner was completely disinterested in this, just told us that even he got a ticket 4 years ago. We would never recommend this place or go there again

A no-smoking establishment whose landlady chain smokes in the kitchen where food is prepared. From the moment we arrived we weren't greeted with an "hello" or "welcome" instead a surly land-lady who repeatedly yelled up the stairs for her husband. We staggered up the stairs with our bags, no help was offered, she was clearly so keen not to have to deal with us she kept shouting for her husband. He arrived & was pleasant enough alhough no information was available regarding where to eat & the advertised evening meal was definately not on offer for us that night. The room was fair if you are happy to be shut in as an unwelcome visitor in the spare room that sits directly above the road with no curtains & blinds that don't meet the windows & don't close properly. This is not ideal if you chose to stay for the promised child friendliness as our baby could not nap in a light room. Although the room looked clean on first sight, the bathroom taps were filthy & the corners of the lino in the bathroom were balck were dirt had collected & had not been cleaned & the bedside lights weren't working. We found the problem here twofold; the accomdation offers no communal or 'lounge' area, the picture of a seated area is mis-leading & is for breakfast only, so we were effectively shut in the room . The worst aspect was the atmosphere; whether it was just a bad day we don't know but at one point we were told it was okay to sit in the garden & then told it was private & not to enter again, the same with the kitchen which was the only visible place to try to find anybody in charge. There could not have been a more obvious atmosphere of 'please don't bother us'. The landlady could not it seemed bear to be bothered with any questions & told us to find her husband, it felt uncomfortable to go off searching round the house for him, whilst she sat in the kitchen drinking & smoking. We decided not to stay the night & on telling the landady our concerns she forcibly ejeceted us out of the building. Needless to say we weren't offered a refund & were pleased to leave.

The hospitality was brilliant we felt welcomed and at home. The children were very comfortable and made to feel special and really enjoyed their stay. The food was gorgous and there were empty plates all round!!! We will definately recommend to our friends and family.
The rooms were very clean and inviting. All the finishing touches were greatly received!!
