We go to The Triton a couple of times a year and are always made very welcome - the staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. Its nice to be greeted at teh door and a table found for you, so many places dont bother. My wife has the sea bass, I think the Triton is well known for its fresh fish, and I had the steak pie (again!). I was surprised by a derogatory review on here, it sounded so bad that we had to check it out again ourselves. None of it happened to us; one can only assume they are taking a pop at the Triton for some other reason. I asked the manager about steak pie and he said its their top selling dish, but that they always change food if its ever not right. I found the steak chunks in mine very succulent and the pastry delicious. Chips were home made and faultless. (I also asked about a barking old woman, but it seems they dont have any old women working there at all!) The Triton's desserts are very good too, ours were all home made. The real ale (from Driffield, Wolds Bitter) was top notch in good condition. JB

On entering the Triton I was greeted by the rudest and most horrendous woman I have ever met. She barked at me to send me to a table. I ordered the "Tritons Famous Steak and Ale pie", I don't know what it was famous for but it certainly wasn't taste! It was dry and had clearly been microwaved. I then saw the horrendous old woman begin to harrass a majority of her staff. The place is very badly run, polite bar-maids and waitors/waitresses but they should get a job elsewhere, not worth going to AT ALL!
