My husband and I went to Tocketts with some friends for an evening meal. The dining room is really nice and the staff were pleasant from start to finish. The food is good traditional pub food and we were spoilt for choice. The whole place is spotless and a really nice setting. We are going to try the Sunday Carvery next time. We would recommend anyone to visit Tocketts Mill.

This was the first time and I can definitely say the last time my friends and I will eat this establishment. The 'Posh' prawn starter, I think was so named because it came with a plate. The Cutlery was incorrectly set; so when the table was cleared and the next course arrived we had to ask for knives and forks. My friends Lamb shank was set in a large bowl on top of a enough mash for all of us and swimming in gravy. The Duck was too tough for his wife to eat, but she was too polite to say. The Moules Whole Shell in a creamy sauce came with a thin soup like substance. The Mixed grill was tough and so on.
Our main course was never cleared properly and I put the remaining plates on another table. I had to ask twice for a sweet. When I came to pay my friend told the manageress that it was the very worst meal and service he had ever come across and that he wouldn't go there again. He was told that the main chef had to go home. Well that explains the lack of knowledge of the staff doesn't it. Having paid £87.00 as we all the building a rat, yes a rat, run past us from the kitchen area and sat under an outside table looking at us. I'm a typical Brit, I rarely complain, but I will never go there again. Even Fawlty Towers would have to work hard to come down to these standards.
