Having seen previous reviews I was nervous to say the least, however it wasn’t as bad as some of the reviews would suggest. OK, its not a super modern hotel with lots of shiny chrome and wooden floors – its a B&B in a small town so expect flowery patterned carpets and a pink bath and if that bothers you, go elsewhere.
We stayed at the White Hart in Launceston for 3 nights in August 2008. We were a large family group with children and booked 5 rooms. Each room was en suite, clean, large and comfy with TV, tea and coffee making facilities – just what we needed. Each morning we had a lovely, freshly cooked breakfast which set us up perfectly for a day exploring Cornwall.
The hotel itself is a pub with a restaurant – it’s a bit old and higgledy-piggledy but it served us well.
Launceston itself isn’t a great town, no nice pubs or restaurants but we booked late and this was the only place in Cornwall that could accommodate us all. It’s a good base for exploring Cornwall and there are some lovely pubs within a 20 min drive.
All in all the White Hart in Launceston is a decent B&B and a good base for exploring.
If you are travelling with small children please note that they do not have any highchairs or cots so take your own.
