My husband and I were taken to the Garden Tearooms by very good friends as a treat last weekend. We had never been before and I am sad to say we would not visit the tearooms again. The afternoon tea was very expensive and also poor value. It contained six very small finger sandwiches made with processed bread, reformed processed ham, and the egg mayonnaise seemed to have been omitted from our sandwich as the bread was bare. There was a choice of afternoon tea or Earl Gray only, no Darjeeling, or Assam etc. The service was slow and we were moved from our original table for health and safety reasons, despite later visitors being served at the same table. The cakes were good, but the balance was wrong, two scones, three pieces of cake on a single serving but if one was to combine the sandwich selection I doubt it would amount to a single slice of bread. At nearly £16 per head, it was poor value, despite the beautiful surroundings. We were all disappointed.
