On the 9/10/2010, we phoned up to book a table for 6 in the bar for 8 – 8:30, as we didn’t want to be seated in the dining room, we were told by a member of staff that if we turned up at 8:30 we would be fine to still order food in the bar area without booking.
After travelling 21 miles we arrived at 8:30 to be told they were fully booked. After being told there was no possible way they could serve us with food, we left the White Horse and as I was still extremely upset and annoyed at the reception we had received, I telephoned and spoke to the Landlady Nikki Pearson. I explained our frustration, not to mention our disappointment, and we eventually came to an agreement. Nikki offered us forty pound off our food bill the next time we dine with them for our inconvenience.
Then on the 15/10/2010, at 11pm the Landlord, Peter Pearson, contacted my sister and cancelled her babies christening which was to be held at the White Horse on the 17/10/2010. His reasoning behind this is still not clear? He did mention to my sister that he wasn’t happy with receiving a complaint from what he was lead to believe was a member of her family.
This is absolutely appalling behaviour, to call someone at 11pm is one thing, but to cancel her babies christening venue and food two days before hand is disgusting. I contacted Mr Peter Pearson to ask his reasoning behind this, and he pointed out to me that not only had he cancelled the christening, but he was also retracting the forty pound offered to me which his wife had agreed with us.
This kind of behaviour is totally erratic and one which you certainly don’t expect from professionals.
Whilst Peter & Nikki Pearson are the proprietors of the White Horse, myself and my family will not be using this establishment again, and would not recommend to anyone else.
