Oliver Cromwell was born in Huntingdon in 1599 and went to the town's Grammar School, which is now the Museum. The collection illlustrates and interprets the life and legacy of this remarkable man. He rose to prominence during the English Civil Wars and in 1653 he bacame the Lord Protector, the Head of State, until his death in 1658. The museum is the foremost collection of Cromwell related material in the world and includes many items owned by or directly associated with him. It also has many portraits of Cromwell, his family and contemporaries. Excellent range of books and souvenir items for sale.
