Barnsdale is a hidden treasure- an internationally known, award-winning collection of individually designed gardens, set in beautiful countryside just off the A1. Originally created by Geoff Hamilton for the Gardeners’ World TV programme, its landscaped walkways link 38 themed garden ‘rooms’, ranging from romantic, cottage-style plantings to more modern designs, a Japanese garden, woodlands teeming with wildlife and the famous productive areas which now supply the Barnsdale Tea Room. So come for gardening inspiration or simply somewhere lovely to relax and unwind while the kids play hide-and-seek, hunt for bugs or watch the birds. Enjoy a slap-up lunch or afternoon tea outside in our tea garden- we are proud to serve the very best, fresh seasonal food from local producers. You can book onto one of our varied courses to learn a new skill or join in the fun at a FREE weekend activity event- for a great day out, all year round, Barnsdale is positively blooming with great ideas!
