Huntingdon Racecourse may have started as a country race track in 1886, basically as the equivalent of a Point-to-Point track, but little did the then organisers realise that over 100 years later, Waterloo Meadows would set the stage for some of the best Steeple Chasers in the country.

In recent years, Huntingdon Racecourse has added a new, high profile race to its Sunday September fixture. The British Mascot Grand National, first run in 1999 has received widespread coverage and publicity and was even shown on the New Zealand Sports review of the Year in 2000.
