Welcome to Castle Hill View, a two bedroomed village cottage. Built over two floors, the upside down house was designed to take advantage of the magnificent views over the village rooftops to the ancient landmark of Castle Hill and the moors beyond. The house sleeps four adults, plus cot and high chair on request. Also available is Lockup Mews, a compact studio apartment completely renovated in late 2009 to a very high standard and comfortably sleeps two. It is conveniently situated at street level (no step) although wheelchair access is limited within the apartment. Each unit is equipped with a fully fitted kitchen area with laundry facilities. There is also a selection of amenities that provide 'rainy days' entertainment including TV/DVD. Both properties are rated towards the higher end of the Quality in Tourism, 3 star rating band. On the lower floor, leading from the main hall, there are two bedrooms and bathroom. Bedroom one is fitted with a double bed, a wardrobe and dressing table; bedroom two has two full size single bed bunks, a wardrobe and dressing table. The 3 piece bathroom suite also has an electric shower fitter above the bath. On the upper floor is the large open plan studio apartment with a leather Chesterfield suite, pine dining suite and fully fitted kitchen area including washing machine. Want to eat out? From the several places in the area why not try the local Riverdale Hotel for anything from a bar snack to a gourmet dinner? The restaurant here overlooks the cricket pitch and to the river beyond. On cold days you can cosy up to their log fire in the bar. The Cheviot Hotel just opposite the cottage caters for all-day breakfasts to afternoon tea. A little further afield try the Tea Room at Simonburn for homemade cakes and scones in a picturesque garden setting.
