Hay on Wye Tips
Hay-on-Wye is a small Marches town at the northernmost point of Brecon
Beacons National Park. The town is on the southern side of the River Wye.
North of the town are the rolling hills of Radnorshire and to the South West
are the Black Mountains.
The town was known as 'The Hay', which derives from the Norman origin, Hay
or Haie, (fenced or hedged enclosure). 'Y-Gelli', the Welsh name for the
town means 'Grove'. The town of Hay is known throughout the world as 'The
Town of Books' - Sandy
