Bradley Stoke Tips
Bradley Stoke is a new town development on the northern side of of Bristol. It was built in the late 1980's and largely serves to provide homes for those employed in the nearby business parks, including the Aztec West development. Bradley Stoke was named after two streams Bradley Brook and Stoke Brook. Stoke Brook, together with Hortham and Patchway Brooks, gives rise to the name of the local conservation group. The Three Brooks Nature Conservation Group attempts to preserve wildlife in the area and gives regular talks on conservation related subjects. For the fitness minded there is Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre, which features a swimming pool. For more sedate sporting pastimes, the town has its own Bowls club. Bradley Stoke is not far from Bristol town centre, so a shopping trip into the city centre by car is quite feasible. Also within easy reach is Bristol Zoo Gardens. During the winter months there is an outdoor ice skating rink at Bristol Zoo Gardens for those wishing to try something a little different. The town celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2007, celebrated by various special events throughout the year. BBC Radio Bristol organised a special one day only 'BBC Radio Bradley Stoke'.
