Events in Almondsbury | 10 Places to Stay
Almondsbury is a large village in Southern Gloucestershire, just seven miles from Bristol. The church of St Mary dates back to 1148 and has an interesting spire and Norman font. The village has delightful stone walls and cottages by the small village green. Why not venture out to Blaise Castle House Museum which is set in beautiful grounds, and tells the interesting story of yesteryear through it’s exhibits of toys, costumes, and even a Victorian Schoolroom, or there is always Oldown Country Park and Kitchen, which is a beguiling Georgian House designed by Robert Adam for a wealthy Sugar Merchant, the house shares it’s secrets of upstairs and downstairs.
For the lovers of the great outdoors why not explore the wonders of Sweet Waters Farm, where the circular footpath or cycle path takes you on a journey through woodland, hay meadows and pasture, the scenery is stunning. Or how about the largest collection in the world of ducks and swans, the Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands is set on 700 acres with dragonflies and Flamingos…. With the amazing ship that was built by Isambard kingdom Brunel close by the SS Great Britain shares her whispered past proudly. Almondsbury pleases the most discerning visitor.
