Wells Next The Sea is a delightful unspoilt historic town on the North Norfolk Coast. Many old buildings and lanes still exist from its heritage as a port and former maltings industry.The main shopping area is a traffic free zone. The current quay and waterway provides berths for sailing and leisure craft. Children enjoy the facilities round the quay and gillying. (for crabs).

The town is at the centre of the North Norfolk Heritage Coast comprising salt marshes, areas of Special Scientific Interest and several wildlife sites providing recreation for walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and seal watchers. Nearby is Holkham Hall with its grounds , bygones museum and Holkham sandy beach.

The town has plenty of accommodation in the form of Guest houses, Bed and Breakfast plus self-catering cottages and several Hotels. There is also out of town sites for caravans and mobile homes. Population 2500
