Ludgvan is a pretty unspoilt village with the River Lidd meandering through and has dramatic and thought inspiring scenery around, whether enjoyment is gained from walking or cycling or you try to capture the beauty in paint, on film or in your heart, all is possible here. The 15th Century Church of St Paul stands impressively it’s granite rock and Norman style tower boasting gargoyles, the most famous residents in the cemetery are the parents of Davy, the inventor of the miners lamp and makes an interesting visit. ‘St Michaels Way’ a Christian Pilgrimage Route passes through near Marazion, this scenic historic route leads you to the fairytale Island of St Michaels Mount. A rocky island capped by a Medieval Castle and church, with stunning gardens, following in the footsteps of Medieval Pilgrims, was once home to a Benedictine Priory. The Island is linked to the shore by a granite causeway that when the tide is low the pilgrim or visitor of today can walk across. The bustling town of Penzance where Lord Nelson’s victory in the battle of Trafalgar was first announced is only 3 miles away. Ludgvan and surrounding area will leave it’s mark in magical memories.
