Newlyn is a busy fishing port in Cornwall with narrow cobbled lanes and whitewashed or granite faced cottages making this an artists delight. The harbour sees the fishing fleet going about their day, and the lighthouse at the end of the pier ensures their safe return. For wildlife lovers a visit to nearby Mousehole Wild Bird Sanctuary is an interesting interlude, or enjoy Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary, the delightful tropical garden is home to 400 different species, for smaller visitors why not pop into the Jungle Barn. Ancient Cornish history is there to be seen at Lanyon Quoit and Tregiffian Burial Chamber dating back to the Neolithic or Bronze Age period. Or perhaps the magnificent St Michael’s Mount will tempt, the magical Medieval masterpiece of castle and church where Pilgrims have worshiped for centuries shares it’s history unreservedly, whether you arrive by small boat or wait for low tide and walk across, it is a place where memories are made. Be prepared to be bewitched by the stunning beauty of Minack Theatre, carved out of the cliffs with the sparkling sea as a backdrop and is definitely one visit not forgotten. Or follow in the footsteps of Smugglers at Prussia Cove where evocative and haunting thoughts of centuries past are easily conjured.
