Porthleven is a beautiful village and sea port on the south coast of Cornwall, home to 3,150 people. The harbour dates back centuries and is a perfect place to watch the fishing boats and forever changing activity, Rod Danglers look eternally hopeful of catching the big one, and enviously at the Trawlers off loading their catch of Crab, Lobster and Crayfish. There are Sea Angling Trips available from the harbour that’s always busy with artists who display their work in the local galleries. A few miles away will find Gweek Seal Sanctuary, where visitors can see the enchanting Seals, or maybe feathered friends are more for you, Paradise Park is set in tropical gardens, and is home to Parrots, Penguins Owls and many more, smaller visitors have a chance to pet the donkeys, goats and pot bellied pigs. Or there is always Trevarno Gardens which date back to 1246 and is the home of The National Gardening Museum. With Cornwall’s rich history of mining a chance to visit Poldark Mine should be grabbed, this historic Tin Mine gives up it’s story completely during the underground tour. Or why not Follow the footsteps of pilgrims to St Michael’s Mount and share this Medieval masterpiece of castle and chapel. Porthleven worth a visit? ……. definitely.
