Kintbury is a charming village between Newbury and Hungerford, bounded on the northern edge by ‘Lambourne Downs’ and the ‘North Hampshire Downs’ to the south. ‘The Wayfarers walk’ is a delightful long distance walk waiting to be enjoyed, This village has a varied interesting history from Roman Bath House and before, to Highwaymen, legend has it they used tunnels from the Bluebell Inn to the stunning Norman church of St Mary’s which is lovely in springtime when the churchyard is white, covered with wild snowdrops. The surrounding scenery is enchanting, mountain bikes maybe hired locally to tour round the area, or perhaps a trip on the Kennet and Avon Canal aboard a traditional Barge Boat, beautifully decorated with roses and castles, the boat trips are famed because of the horses regaled in full harnesses that pull them. Or maybe a trip into nearby Hungerford, to search for treasures amongst one of the many antique shops, or why not try the ‘Arcade‘, home to over 7o stalls boasting anything from silver, linen, coins and many other items. If you forget your paint brush, camera, fishing rod or even your walking boots there is still much to do and enjoy in Kintbury.
