Cheam is a large village only twelve miles from the centre of London, once famed for it’s pottery during the Middle Ages, now home to just over nine and a half thousand people. The impressive Whitehall, built in the 16th Century, stands in the centre of the village, with 500 years of living history on display, including Medieval pottery and even a Victorian Schoolmasters Study, outside the delightful gardens have a Medieval well that completes this enchanting experience. For a relaxing stroll there is Non Such Park with links into history, or there is always Cheam Park if a game of Crazy Golf or Tennis is wished for. For a glimpse into Mother Nature’s wonders Ashtead Common National Nature Reserve has trees that are centuries old, ancient monuments, and a myriad of wildlife on offer….. Or how about a flutter at Epsom Race Course, or even Sandown, whether the winner is chosen or not will make the visit a definite favourite. Perhaps tennis is more for you, the All England Tennis Club Museum has state of the art exhibits that tell an interesting story, or hold tight at Chessington World of Adventures where adrenaline pumping rides and wild animals are the order of the day. The Tudor masterpiece of Hampton Court Palace will proudly share Henry V111’s legacy, and the visitor can follow in the footsteps of Oliver Cromwell, William Shakespeare and many others…...
