Horringer is a village in West Suffolk, 2½ miles southwest of the market town of Bury St Edmunds. St. Leonard's Church has prime position in the centre of the village overlooking the village green and the entrance to Ickworth Park. In the 14th Century St Leonard's Church was restored and Great Horringer Hall rebuilt. The Gildhall, King William Cottage and The Old House date from Medieval times, along with other historic buildings along The Street. On the village green is the entrance to Ickworth House and Park, a National Trust property. The Earl of Bristol created this eccentric house in 1795, with its central rotunda and curved corridors to display his collections by Titian, Gainsborough and Velasquez and a magnificent Georgian silver collection. The house is surrounded by an Italianate garden and set in a Capability Brown park with woodland, deer enclosure, vineyard, Georgian summer-house, church, canal and lake. The Ickworth Hotel is located in Ickworth Park in the East wing of Ickworth House. The Beehive pub is situated in the centre of the village and dates back to approximately 1860. By the main A143 is the Six Bells Pub. Horringer Community Centre is home to a large number of village clubs, societies and organisations.
