Lying to the east of Cheshire and close to the Staffordshire border lies the pretty little town of Alsager. Originally a farming community it remained very much so until the railways and growth of nearby Stoke on Trent in the 19th century secured its popularity as a picturesque location to live. Almost central to the town is Alsager Mere where you can stroll down to the waters edge and observe the mere from one of the two platforms that provide excellent views across the mere. Today Alsager remains a popular residential area with good communication links to the Midlands, the railway providing regular services to Stoke on Trent and Crewe from where the remainder of the country can be accessed whilst the M6 is relatively close by. For those who wish to relax then the countryside around Alsager is worth exploring, a stroll along the Salt Line with footpath links to the Trent and Mersey Canal and Rode Heath Rise is well worth the exercise. There is also the Cranberry Moss Nature Reserve as well as Milton Park which is the main location for the annual carnival. Alsager represents an oasis for both residents and visitors alike, a refuge from a hectic lifestyle and worth the time to visit.
