Born 1900 - Budapest, Hungary. Died 1979 - Physicist and Nobel Prize winner.

Received doctorate in engineering in Berlin before leaving Germany in 1933. Wrote the first book on the electron microscope. Best known for developing the technique of holography (recording and reproducing three dimensional figures). Awarded the 1971 Nobel Prize for physics.
