Born 1913. Died 1997 - English climatologist.
Educated at Cambridge, degree in natural science and geography. Joined Meteorological Office. Produced weather forecasts throughout WWII. Greatest achievements were production of a daily weather classification for Great Britain for each day from 1861 and a study of major volcanic eruptions since 1500.
