Born 1785. Died 1866 - English novelist and poet.
Served in the East India Company. Wrote a series of romantic satires (1816-1831) starting with Headlong Hall and ending with Crotchet Castle. Published two romances Maid Marian (1822) and The Misfortunes of Elphin (1829).
