Very friendly Hotel , and good value . We would have paid twice the cost - and had poorer accomodation in the tourist traps of Bowness or Ambleside , yet they were only 15 mins drive away !! Our room was very clean and bright , the biccys were great and the coffee sachets (replaced daily )were a of very high quality - which was a real bonus! The sweets were homemade and well presented with a varied dinner menu, which makes such a change from many places. The staff were helpful and seemed genuinely interested, even showing us the maps of the walks from the hotel. There is a lovely walk across the fields next to the River Crake, leading up into the beautiful Rusland Valley within only 20 mins . This hotel is well worth a visit , and we are booking for a long Spring weekend next year .

Loved every minute of our two-night stay. Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful. We felt welcomed as a family group with a young child, which isn't always the case in hotels, so I was very happy about that. Food was excellent. Room clean, comfortable and easily accessable with a small patio area complete with coffee table which made a very nice place to sit and chat in the evening. Enjoyed a well cooked full english breakfast. Were easily able to travel to everywhere in the Lakes from the hotel and back. Looking forward to coming again

Paid 75 per night for a double room on a bank holiday. noisy (staff banging doors in the hall early in the morning), dusty room. Small uncomfortable bed, rigid duvet, far too thick for the season. Hot water ran out, overheard another guest complaining he had to boil the kettle to shave. One of the kitchen staff had annexed the roof terrace outside our room for his dogs. Which meant covered in poo and barking late at night. We couldnt open our window since they jumped through it, so the room was very hot with no aircon. Late on Sunday night one of the staff was drunk and shouting outside our window, he did move on when we asked, but still.... not ideal. Then the food....just in case you tried to catch up on the sleep you missed during the night, breakfast was only available till 9:30. Only went to breakfast once, it wasnt worth getting up for. The cooked breakfast was virtually raw, the scrambled eggs were disgusting they looked like mashed potato, the bowls of tinned fruit empty by 9. Coffee was the highlight. I think we saw this hotel at its worst, i couldnt shake the feeling that maybe the owners were away, but even at its best it wouldnt be worth what we paid for it.

"very clean bedding, bathroom etc which we find most important overall","nothing in particular , damp in room which we was able to smell and in entrance to the block of rooms",Hotel is near busy road and not in a secluded spot but we did enjoy the stay - staff were excellent and food spot on so overall a good experience. If in the area we would consider staying again
