This pub/restaurant has recently changed hands and whilst the food is not quite as excellent as it was previously, the service is very good and the menu is interesting. There is every sign that it will soon be as good as ever.
I was surprised by the previous poor review - we have been going to the Tollgate for 5 years and have always found the food and service to be very good indeed. Although they do get busy, we have found that the booking system has always ensured that numbers are kept manageable.

We visited on Saturday with my sister and husband. On leaving we were asked if everything was ok and we told them that the food was not hot (after telling the waitress and waiter). We felt the whole time that we were there that we were totally ignored. We were given the desert menu and after half an hour no one came back to see if we wanted anything, that is when we got up and paid.When visiting the area again we certainly won't be back.They have to many tables and cannot cope when busy.
