Went last week for dinner with some friends, haven’t been for years and was very much looking forward to it.. What thoroughly depressing experience... Met by an aggressive brain dead barmaid, who only had a basic grasp of English and no grasp at all about how to deal with the public or work behind a bar? We turned up half an hour early fro our 9.30 pm table was told, " we have to order NOW as the kitchen was closed... We hade to persuade her and her colleague to lay a table for us as she suggested eating at the bar.... they reluctantly did this, then we waited 40 mins for god awful food served by terrapin brain - on paying the bill we noticed that one of the dishes was £5 cheaper of the bar menu, when we questions this we were told sarcastically the it's the same dish and I TOLD YOU TO EAT AT THE BAR!
One of party was writing an article on London for American GQ, had to beg her no to write anything, in an attempt to depend was once a great pub...
Lef embarrassed, confused, hungry and about £140 lighter...
What a shame...
