A small local community pub, hosted by the McGlorys, with beer supplied by Charles Wells. You can always be assured of a welcome at the Moon. It may not always be a genial welcome, but it will be a welcome none the less. The landlord's hero is Arkwright from Open All Hours and he aspires to emulate his hero in many aspects. This is not in my opinion a 'bad thing'. He keeps exceptional pints of Eagle and Bombardier on hand pump, and is rightly mentioned in the CAMRA Good Beer guide. Fizzy yellow drinks are supplied to the boys frightened of tasting their beer, and a some decent red wine can usually be found at the well stocked bar. The Moon enters teams in local leagues for football, darts and skittles. Frequent saturday night entertainments include the dreaded FatBoy SlimBoy Disco, and Roger's 10,000+ Karaoke evening. The Moon's locals support various local charities throughout the year, including , bizarrly, the Methodist Churches Boy's Brigade, several local special needs schools and the RBL. Although a small pub with 2 bars it is frequented by an eclectic mix of regulars, many of whom enjoy the regular cash prize Sunday night quizzes, both individual effort and team versions are played on a week about basis. The pub has an extensive and very well maintained garden to the rear, with play equipment, seating and a petanque rink. A covered outdoor smoking area has been built in readiness for the 2007 smoking ban, but non-smokers beware, the militant smokers will remove you from the area if it gets crowded!
