We had two excellent meals on a Monday and Tuesday evening. The average cost of the meals (without drinks) was £25 each for three courses. The couple running the bar made us very welcome and service was excellent. We decided to return on Wednesday at the same time but found a different 'host' who, despite the tables being half empty, declared we should have booked. There is no notice of booking being required, nor was it required the two previous evenings and there were at least eight tables unoccupied. While he was happy for us to buy drinks he would not serve food at 8.30 p.m. despite our previous good custom. No apology - rude enough to walk away.
