Good Points: Breakfast was superb - especially the bacon, which was juicy and thicker than a cheap pub gammon steak. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has lots of period features and interesting nooks and crannies, set in an incredibly peaceful village location in the Forest of Dean.
Bad Points: My only criticism, and it had no effect on my enjoyment of the stay, was that perhaps the room I had was a little dated in its decor, though not tired. I was very happy, though perhaps others may be less easy to please.
General review: I would have liked to stay longer, but couldn't unfortunately.

Staff were very pleasant and great in accommodating us during our stay. Meals and breakfasts were very enjoyable and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. A recommendation for anyone to visit.
