Bad Points: the room was cold, no extra covers,
General review: Black tie to eat in the resturant this was not mentioned in the web site. after travelling for 9 hours i had to get back in my car and find somewhere to eat! no offer of food in my room. The room was cold and the windows were drafty. The shower did not work next morning (no hot water). no offer of compensation or apology. I will not be recommending or staying there again.

Bad Points: Windows didn't open
General review: The evening dinner dress code would be my own criticism. We are a smart 40-something year old married couple, but our receiving a wordy letter from the manager at the check-in process on arrival, explaining the dress code, put us off eating there for our 3 nights. Why? Simply because my husband had not packed a tie whilst on holiday. It was a shame really, since the kipper I had for breakfast was the best I've had anywhere, so I would have been rather keen without this hindrance. So we felt obliged to chose elsewhere to eat in Salcombe. I also think taking the relaxed nature of the hotel into consideration, it does not warrant a stringent dress code like this. I imagine a few guests do not use the evening meal facility as a result. I heard one table of 8 or so having to ask for a recommendation of somewhere outside too.
