We were a grown up family party of 4 + 2 dogs. Having read the glossy leaflet full of life and colour we decioded to visit.Due to my stepfather's interest in gardening and our alternative lifestyle choices we thought it would be the ideal outing. We appeared to be the only visitors, but that was no real concern as it was a dull day at the beginning of the season.
We found the kitchen garden was lacking in veg and what was there had gone to seed. The main gardens were impressive in size, although not well maintained but the views were impressive. We found the permiculture area which had more life and love invested, the gate with information could not be read due to the stench of urine (the nearby log cabins toilet we assumed). On a plus the gardens had huge potential (perhaps the workers that live within the grounds were in the middle of a strike!)The fact that dogs could visit was also a plus they had a great time. The party was split in their final reviews, the gardeners were appalled, the alternative dog owners a little embarrassed but defensive about peoples lifestyle choices just a shame it cost the group £16!!!!!!!!!!
