I went to the Bow Window with my boyfriend for our 6 month anniversary, it was our first meal at a 'proper' restauarant and therefore a special occassion. We were reccommended the Bow Window by my parents who had been there for meals previously and enjoyed them. On arrival we were asked if we had a table booked and we said yes, gave our name and the time of our booking. The waitress told us to wait in the bar area. Other customers were given menus and their orders were taken, they were then taken to their tables. My boyfriend and I were not given a menu or taken to a table. Other customers came in who had later reservations than us and they were also given menus and taken to their table. We were completely ignored for the next 45 minutes, no one even bothered to look at us after we arrived. We felt so embarrassed we decided to leave and go to another restaurant. The service that we received at the Bow Window was disgraceful. When I told my parents about our experience they rang up to complain but the restaurant owner was in total denial and was completely uninterested and rude. Personally, I feel that we were ignored due to our age. We felt that just because we were young we were not as important as other customers and we were made to feel very uncomfortable and unwanted. I would definitely not recommend the Bow Window, especially not to anyone under the age of 40.
