Born 1848. Died 1931 - Scottish businessman and philanthropist.
Went to USA in 1865, returned to Glasgow and opened grocer’s shop in 1870. Followed by other shops becoming millionaire at age of 30. Bought tea plantations, rubber estates, factories and packing houses. Made generous donations to charities.
