BOOK MACCLESFIELD HOTELS

Jonathan Agnew
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Macclesfield, Cheshire
Born on 4th of April 1960
Died in 000

From a gentleman farmer background, Agnew was educated at Uppingham School, where his pace bowling achieved some spectacular returns. He represented Leicestershire, and played also in three tests for England (and was unlucky not to play more). Disenchanted by the realisation he wouldn’t be selected for England again, Agnew retired early, briefly wrote for the newspaper Today, then joined the BBC’s Test Match Special team, becoming one of its best-loved commentators, no mean achievement.
