Reviews of Glen Uig Inn,

Best rates for a Local Hotel

The Glenuig Inn as such no longer exists. The new owner demolished it so don't expect to find the characterful inn of old. The new inn is unfortunately not worth a visit - no draught drinks, no atmosphere, no locals (and rarely any customers), high prices, dodgy food and worst of all NO DRAUGHT drinks. A real shame.

Anyone expecting a Highland welcome can forget it. City prices for beer and food. Unfriendly owner. No atmoshphere. Might fit into a posh part of London, but not the Gaelic highlands.

I agree with the other posters. It was such a dissapointment to see a real auld Highland inn with Gaelic speakers and traditional music turned into such a soulless shell. The new owner's arrogant and patronising attitude to folk is appalling.

I arrived at the Glenuig Inn after a long but wonderful cycle down from Broadford, Skye. The inn was busy but I didn't have to wait over long for my very acceptable meal. The hostel accommodation was good - super strong, hot shower and the bed wide and comfortable and a lovely clean room. OK, I was lucky and had a room to myself so didn't have to clamber up to a top bunk. I'm surprised by the other reviews I've read - I felt very welcome and had an entertaining night talking to a group of German bikers. No, there probably weren't many locals in, but last time I called in the place was completely empty and the (Australian)barmaid had obviously had a very heavy night before and was less than welcoming. I'll definately go back again.

Wonderful location, great, clean, modern and very comfortable chalets but Inn run down and waiting for renovation. Totaly puzzled by new owners lack of hospitality and manners. Have been there before and the welcome and care made up for the tatty appearance. Could be a winner for someone with the right attitude. Look forward to hearing about a change of ownership.

Wanted a meal in a quaint hotel. What a disappointment, outside seating had wood rot in chairs and tables, front view of hotel very shabby, interior not much better with filthy carpet in entranceway and in one dining room filthy with ingrained dirt on carpet tiles, rotten skirting boards falling off wall. No welcome greeting on arrival. Needless to say we declined to eat and managed a meal in another hotel which was excellent.
