Good Points: The room was clean and the grounds were attractive. Car parking was convenient and secure.
Bad Points: The shower gave a choice of hot or very hot... NOT apparently cool or cold. Also, as a tall man, it was mounted a little low. The towels, whilst adequate, were small to the point of meanness. There was a perfumed smell in the room. Fresh air would have been better. Finally, an overflow pipe on an upper floor was constantly running, pouring water down onto the lawn below my window. This was both wasteful and intrusive. I had to sleep with the window closed to shut out the sound. I checked-in late and tired. Had I arrived earlier I would have requested a room change.
General review: The buildings and grounds were very impressive. However, on arrival it was raining and the main reception area was surrounded by NO PARKING signs and clamping warnings. Rather officious and inconvenient. A few bays dedicated to travellers checking-in would have been much more convenient and welcoming. The staff were very helpfull. On arriving in the block where I was to find my room, the lift was out of order (it happens, I know) but I had to retrace my steps with all my luggage to find a staircase. A notice on the main entrance to the building would have been helpful. In such grand, spacious surroundings, I found my bedroom rather small and dimly lit. Fine for a Travel Inn, but disappointing for an establishment such as this. The appointments (iron, trouser press, TV, etc) were good.

Short and to the point FANTASTIC staff, rooms, food, location, could not find a fault.
Proberbly one ofc the best hotels that we have stopped in, in England.
Well worth the journey.
