Kingsbury - "the King's manor" - is a north-west London suburb, situated just to the north of Wembley. With its green spaces and easy access to the spectacular Welsh Harp Reservoir, Kingsbury makes an ideal base for visitors exploring the attractions of Wembley - the Stadium, the indoor concerts and entertainments at the Arena, and the Business & Exhibition Centre. One of Kingsbury's best-loved attractions is Fryent Country Park, a wonderful nature reserve. To stroll through 250 acres of fields, woodlands and meadows past ponds and wildflowers is to leave behind the noise of London's busy streets and traffic. The countryside surroundings of the Welsh Harp Reservoir offer an equally agreeable escape from city life. Here, families may enjoy a picnic or a stroll by the water, looking out at the windsurfers and the many picturesque sailing boats. The reservoir is also an important bird and wildlife sanctuary. Other places of interest in Kingsbury include St Andrew's Church, a Victorian building which in the 1930s was moved, brick by brick, from its original location near Oxford Street in London's West End, the Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre, and the Veteran's Club in Roe Green Park, where television signals were first received from abroad.
